What do you think of this idea??

Instead of buying stuff to put in our son's (he's 2) stocking we decided to go through his toys he hasn't played with in a while and wrap up what's still age appropriate and that we think he'd enjoy and put those in his stocking so he has more to unwrap on Christmas without having to buy stuff he m.y or may not end up liking

Clarification: We decided buying stocking stuffers this year is a bit of a waste of money and over consumptive (for our family and circumstances specifically. No judgment on anyone else!!) But still really enjoy it as a Christmas morning tradition My husband and are are planning to find and wrap up random stuff from around the house to "gift" eachother in our stockings as well. Just little things that might have a story or purpose behind them to show we're thinking of eachother Disclaimer: we did get him a couple bigger/intentional presents for Christmas but feel there's not much he need) will be spending Christmas evening with more family that has told us they're getting him gifts as well

Great idea! I'm also doing the classic orange/apple in my daughters stocking and some chocolate coins as she loves them! For this year as my christmas present I asked my partner to choose 12 books off my bookshelf for me to open up throughout the year.

I bought apple sauce pouches, and teething crackers, and a teether for my sons stocking. He's 14 months, so I can't really fill it with candies like I would other people's. And these are things he eats all the time and I needed to buy more anyways, but this is a great idea! I might see if I find any toys he hasn't used in awhile to add, and do this next year! He's gifts are mostly things he needs, like a few more pants, and more books

i considered doing this lmao sounds like a good idea to me

If he hasn't played with them in a while, then why would he enjoy them now? I will be going through my son's toys to see what he hasn't played with in ages & giving it away, not to wrap it up to give it back to him 😏

@Rachel i totally get that! We're definitely donating stuff we can tell he's just outgrown or lost interest in but there are items we feel have just gotten buried in the toy box (out of sight out of mind type) or things that he was a little young to enjoy when we first put them out that he hasn't found his way back to. kind of treating the stocking as a big toy rotation

Personally I wouldn’t for age 2. Also we tend to put more practical stuff in the kids stockings so socks, pants, sweets, stuff like playdoh, bubbles and a small toy like a car.
