Advice on using the LGBTQ+ flair

I'm bisexual and when I saw that there was a LGBTQ+ flair, I added it to my profile, since I'm part of the community and wanted to display it to maybe connect to other people of the community. But I am in a relationship with a man, and after some thinking about it, I wonder if people might expect you to be part of a same sex couple when they see the flair and would maybe be disappointed, because they're looking to find people with similar family dynamics to connect to. Would you automatically assume that a person with the LGBTQ+ flair is in a homosexual relationship and would you be disappointed or feel deceived if it turns out otherwise? I just wanted to check in because I didn't want to be unintentionally insensitive.

Not at all, many different types of people and relationships come under the LGBTQ+ umbrella so the only way to find out for sure is to talk to the person. I'm a trans man married to a trans woman and we are biological parents to our daughter who is 9 months. Everyone who sees us waking round day to day assume that we adopted her when actually I carried her and gave birth to her myself and she looks exactly like me too! Just goes to show that you never know and can't take people at face value like that 😂

Fellow bi here 👋🏻 it makes no difference who you are in a relationship with, you're still bisexual and you don't need to placate others. I say that as someone in a relationship with a woman. You have the same right to use the flair as everyone else 💙💜🩷

I would see it as they are LGBTQ+ and not think twice about who they are in a relationship

I'm bisexual and in a relationship with a man (my very first hetero experience 😂) but I still identify with being LGBTQ+ so the badge is on my profile, too!
