Growth Scan

Can anyone help me understand what the results of a growth scan mean. I had a scan a couple of days ago at exactly 28 weeks, and baby was ahead of her expected growth. However, each body part had different measurements. For example, her head was 28weeks and 4 days, whilst her stomach was 29 weeks 4 days. Is this normal? They really don’t explain much in the appointment. Does this mean the due date will change if she was ahead, or is she just a bigger baby? They said she was in the 40th percentile.

That’s normal, I’ve noticed it on the screen of my scans too. If she’s 40th centile she won’t be a bigger baby she’ll be just below average

That's normal, it's had one at 27+5 and he was also in the 40th percentile and midwife after said he's in the normal ranges for where they want them to be

Yes they don’t grow in proportion so the measurements will always be off. They use the femur length, head circumference and abdominal circumference to work out their overall centile and that’s the one which is best to go off - 40th overall is great. Your due date will never change. You basically want them somewhere between 10th and 90th as this is ‘normal’ ☺️ x

Totally normal xx

One thing I didn't understand with mine was which measures were 'size for me' (I am tall) and which were 'size in general'. The sonographer said the measurements were normal for both but unclear which is which!
