Confused

I had my lunch and my reading was 8.2 after 1 h, I suppose I know why , some condiments I put on my food but without realizing it 😑 anyway just curious I test again an h later and my reading was 4,9 😵‍💫😵‍💫 why did it dropped so fast in 1 h? I didn’t do anything only drinking water.. Now I’m worried, is it normal? Should I let them know, anyone has had this or only me? 🥲

I think this can happen if you eat something particularly sugary or a fast releasing carb. Like a slow release carb should cause a slower peak and fall more slowly. But if you had something like Ketchup (because I've done the same) the sugar in it can cause your blood sugar to spike then crash again. I think this is what happens anyway!

@Jayne I ate 2 drumsticks with sweet potatoes and a salad, but without realizing I’ve put sweet paprika and and some vegeta , so anything else wouldn’t be the reason for the high one..

@Jayne So do you think I should be worried or is normal?

Sometimes its all about washing your hands before the test. My bet is that you grabbed a bit of sweet potato and the sugar stayed on your skin, and it affected the test result. This happened to me once when I ate an apple with some almonds and cheese as a snack. Indid a test and I got 11.8!!!! I was so scared. I washed my hands really well, re-did the test within a 2min window and got 5.1 😆

@Ana every single time I wash with hot water before testing, it also helps me with getting enough blood 🥲 hmm

Haaa noo.. well maybe something in the food then caused the spike like the other comment says. Drinking water helps regulate high sugar levels too so maybe that helped. Honestly GD is such a b*tch…. 🫠

@Ana yeah, and I’m new to this, second week and still trying things to see what works for me and not😑yes after I drink plenty of water so maybe that s why .. I was so confused with this difference and didn t know if it s normal
