Owlet?

Does anyone have an owlet and if so do you recommend? I’m struggling to sleep myself when she’s sleeping as I keep checking she’s ok as TikTok seems to be serving me a lot of SIDS videos so I’ve had to stop using it. Know it’s naturally a mum thing to be anxious so any tips would be greatly appreciated 💖

I have an owlet because my eldest was poorly a lot with bronchiolitis. I use it when one of the children is poorly but otherwise I find it causes quite a lot of anxiety and I spend all night staring at the numbers. I think it really depends on you as an individual because I know people who love it and then there’s people like me who feel worse studying oxygen levels for hours 😅

I’ve got one and had it since birth. To start with it was a bit hit and miss but that was because the placement has to be pretty much perfect to get a proper reading, but once you get used to it, it’s been fine!! I’m the same about obsessing about the readings, so I deleted the app and it’s all now just on my partners phone so I’m not tempted to look! The alert goes off on the charger, so everyone can hear it - you don’t need it on your phone. The only thing I find annoying is sometimes we put the Rockit onto my baby’s next to me bed, and that will sometimes register as ‘abnormal movement’ so will set the alarm off 🫠🫠, so we have to turn it off whilst that’s on! Also, make sure if you do buy one that you get the latest version that is FDA rated, the old sock was discontinued and no longer sold or supported, but the new version is all approved :)

We bought one on the Black Friday sales and I wouldn’t be without it now! I thought I’d be constantly checking the readings but I only ever check it when an alert goes off (usually just placement issue) gives me such peace of mind!

@Grace ah yeah that’s what I’m hoping to avoid just starting at it as know that it can cause some false alarms but I’m hoping if I can do what Scarlet has mentioned then that might help me not obsess!

@Abbie ah I think you’ve defo convinced me!

@Scarlet 🤍 such a good shout about the app as I do think I’d be constantly checking it! And thank you I didn’t know what about the FDA versions! Will take a look now and 99% sure I’ll be purchasing as a Christmas present to myself

we have it and found it tricky to use then first week but have loved it since then. He got a cold/was snuffly around the two week mark and it gave me so much peace of mind. It’s actually pretty simple to use and i find it comforting to wake and just be able to glance at the base station to check its green (which means all is fine). I occasionally check it in the night, but it plays a pretty loud tune/alarm when something is wrong so we can sleep knowing it will wake us x

It’s worth its weight in gold to me ! I was staying awake before watching her as I was so worried now I’m able to sleep at night, my husband thought I might obsess over the readings but it’s actually done the opposite I’m so much calmer now knowing the alarm will go off if she needs me xx
