Looking for advice

Not exactly pregnancy related but I’ve been unwell (with a cold) for around a week now, already had a cough and eventually felt I was getting better now weirdly feel I’m getting worse but today I’ve coughed the entire day, I just can’t stop, it’s hurting my chest and my entire body when I cough. It’s making me feel exhausted from it. The cough I had days ago was nothing like this and eventually died down and I was on the road to recovery so this is out of no where and I really don’t know what to do. It’s making me feel breathless when I am coughing and my chest is sore and heavy from it. Any suggestions? I’m always a “just get on with it kind of person and don’t usually let any illness get me down but this is something else I’ve never felt like this before and I’m unsure what to do. I’ve tried tea with honey which previously helped but this coughs so different now. It’s continuous and I just can’t stop. I am 28 weeks pregnant.

My friend is pregnant too and had this recently, she’s the same about ‘just getting on with it’ i think it was originally a chest infection but because she left it it turned into pneumonia! Not saying that’s what’s happening for you but defo be careful and maybe get it checked out, hope you feel better soon! X

You need to get checked out. I’m exactly the same as you and usually ride it out. But then I felt decreased movements so I went in to get that checked and when they did my observations my numbers were very high and I was quickly admitted and treated for suspected sepsis. Turned out to be influenza an and it was making me very sick and my baby’s heart rate very high which is why she wasn’t moving as much. I don’t say this to scare you but you have to remember your immune system isn’t in it’s usual “get on with it” mode, so please get checked out in case you need treatment 😊

I had something similar basically over the whole of November. Also tried with the get on with it vibe and ended up cracking my rib from excessive coughing and then when I went to the hospital to get it checked out, found out I had a chest infection. Definitely get it checked at the drs! X
