When my little girl turned 6 weeks she stopped pooping daily. In the last 2 and a half weeks she’s went 3 times, sometimes going 5 full days without pooping and when she’s went the nappy has been insane lol. I’m not sure if you’re breastfeeding but my HV advised that during the first 6 weeks your breastmilk has a laxative effect on your baby and changes after that which means they don’t go as often. Both my HV and doctor have advised not to worry as long as the baby is content and is having plenty of wet nappies.
@Abi he is being combi fed, so I think that may have something to do with how often he is pooing! He doesn't seem to be in pain, but does get really fussy by day 5 which may me think he then really needs to go but can't! Oh wow 14 days!! Ok that is good to know!!
@Grainne ok that is good to know as my little one seems to be the same! He was going everyday in the first 4 weeks but changed to not as often in the last couple of weeks and I was just worried if that was normal or not! Not really sure what's normal for a combi fed baby!
@Sophie at around day 3/4 I always spend a good half hour massaging my girls tummy with baby oil when she’s nice and relaxed and do bicycle legs etc and it always gets things moving, so normal to worry!
My combi-fed baby went a week. I took him to the GP that morning funnily enough and they said not to worry, they'd give him laxative if it got to 10 days. He goes every 3 days now.
Yes my daughter has been like this, goes every 3-4 days and they’re big ones when they come x
Both my babies have done this! My first born in 2022 would go almost 10 days without pooping but he was never uncomfortable it was just an explosion when he finally went, my girl born this time around goes anywhere between 3/6 days! the hospital won’t do anything until day 11 unless really constipated and uncomfortable anyway, just the digestive system

@Tanya thank you Tanya, that is good to know, we are day 5 now, so I will wait a few days before taking him to the GP if he still hasn't pooed!

Yep! My baby does exactly this. I’m not worried about it as my daughter was the same and he goes eventually. I think as long as it’s not past about 6-7 days then it’s fine x
When it comes to getting checked out, my little one went not long after birth and about 4 times in the 24 hr period and then not again for a full seven days . (Breastfed at the time too) they sent me to the baby doctor and they did bicycle exercises with him and just keep us updated as he doesn’t seem too comfortable , this was on day 5 . They called me both days after just to check on his pooping situation. I don’t think anyone would do anything for them until days 7-10 days ish since there last by the impression I got , just do massage and excersice as lack of movement can make them constipated x
Depends how they are being fed. My breastfed baby poos at least once a day but has gone a whole day without going a couple times. Does your baby seem comfortable? Don’t know how true this is but I’ve heard that breast milk is so nutritionally optimised that a baby can go without pooping for like 14 days 😂
