Administering liquid omeprozole đź’Š

Just wanted to put this here generally for all the mums struggling to get this awful liquid down their LO's, hope it helps someone as I know how awful it can be. I found that there are different flavours which they don't tell us about! Our first was a horrible aniseed and the 2nd pinkish and strawberry. I asked the pharmacist and our next bottle is no flavour! They also said we could flavour it ourselves with dilute juice. We've also learnt the hard way and found putting on baby sensory dancing fruit for distraction and literally standing in front of the telly tapping our nails on it helps so much. He doesn't like it but doesn't cry anymore, and neither do we! We also do ours in 2 half doses, am and pm which was ok'd by pharmacist. We couldn't get it in him otherwise, he just projectiled it back up and was in such a state. It's now not the trauma it once was. Make sure you discuss with your own pharmacist/ GP before splitting the dose! I've asked the consultant about adding it to milk/ water or chasing it with either, she said no, it dilutes the medicine and won't work properly. I keep mentioning to people here that my boy had a tongue tie which was a major link to a lot of his reflux symptoms due to taking in excess air. So if not already, it may be a good idea to get your Lo's assessed. and if anyone has any questions about our journey I'm happy to answer. I feel really passionate about helping other mums as best I can as I know how horrendous this reflux journey is x Photo so we don't get lost!

thank you @Beth for the mum hack with attempting to make omeprazole abit more tasteful for our little one. I also agree it is link to tongue tie. and for us mums it is tough and a struggle to see our little ones go through it.

Thank you so much @Beth ! Really good to know about the flavour too. Have you attempted to come off it yet? I’m nervous to but trying it after Xmas

We did once because he had a choking episode and it scared me to death. Thought it was ok but 5 days after the reflux was back with a vengeance so we decided to restart it. Osteopaths apparently help a lot too. We have noticed ours a lot less gassy following 3 sessions with one, but couldn't say whether reflux is improved because of that or a number other things we have changed xx @Emily
