Dog neutering question

My boy is getting neutered in February, had to postpone it due to moving house, moving vets and then the day he was meant to be going in originally I went into labour!
Just wondering how long it took other people’s male dogs to be back to themselves after having the operation?

This should be a discussion with your vet.
Males usual 5 days if followed post operative care
Females 10 days

Your vet should be able to answer any queries for you. Make sure you keep the Elizabethan collar on him so he can’t get to the area and prolong healing.
It’s an operation the vets carry out daily so they have all the answers

Deffo discuss with your vet as if different breed to breed and just dogs personally!
I have a German shepherd x border collie, took him about 5-7 days to be back to normal but he had also had a reaction to the pain meds that made him have blood in his sick/stool 😭 but wound wise and moving around wise it was like a day or two!

have spoken to my vet, however they said that it varies dog to dog and isn’t a set time, so just wondering what other people’s experiences were! X

My Doberman only took a few days to be back to normal, he was more upset by the cone of shame than anything else 😂 I think we were told to wait maybe 10 days to walk him off lead but I can’t remember for certain. Def didn’t really bother him x

My boy has his op on 18th june by the 20th he was back to his normal self, although we still kept walks to a short ten minutes, after 5 days untill day 10 just to make sure he didn’t pull his stitches too much. If your unsure on a collar you can get a suit or the blow up donuts they are good to! Although my boy never actually touched his scar it’s one of those just incase! Also first poop after op maybe runny do not panic and if he whines it’s the drugs wearing off not that he’s in pain I promise you!

It took out chow chow x husky about 7 days but he really struggled with upset tummy due to the anesthetic. They are a sensitive breed and I had to go back to get something to help. Would 100% recommend the suit over a collar, particularly if a larger breed as it meant our boy could get comfy and rest up properly.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.

Bedtime routine

I have a 12 week old and we struggle to get him to sleep in his next to me crib or Moses basket, so he sleeps in bed with us which means we’re struggling to have a bedtime routine as he won’t sleep till i go to bed with him.
Any suggestions please as he doesn’t sleep till around 11/12
