I’m a 2 time section mummy now and happy to answer any questions. Personally, I’ve loved both experiences. Zero trauma, minimal pain, good recoveries. Tiny scar, no shelf or other issues in fact if you looked at me in a bikini you’d never know I’d had 2 caesareans. The spinal is actually really easy and hurts less than the normal cannula in your hand. It’s super fast acting and the staff are amazing at keeping you calm. My section on Wednesday was 6 minutes from the first cut to baby in my arms! No horror stories here xxxx
So I had an emergency c-section with my first. I was the other way around and terrified of tearing etc for a natural birth so a c-section was a relief. I was however scared of the epidural and more so of the catheter. The catheter I didn't feel at all. The epidural I just dissociated from and it was weird rather than painful. It has been 2 years since my epidural and csection. My recovery was the normal 6 to 8 weeks and I had a bit of back pain for about 6 to 8 months but probably more affected by being over weight. 2 years on though I have no lasting problems and my csection was calm and the staff was great. X
They will wait to see if it's still low closer to the time as it's likely to move up. Mine moved up and so did a lot of other people's when I was searching for responses for the same thing at 20 weeks.
You are exactly me 26weeks ago. They will scan you again at 36 weeks so try and be positive. Mine moved out the way so I was overjoyed to say the least because I was terrified of having a c section. With my first I was unmediated also. This time around I laboured at home and got to the hospital at 9.5cm and pushing. The staff had to run to the car park and assist me to the ward. After 5.5hours of active pushing he was stuck. They did a manual movement before an emergency c section. If you do have to walk through that door…take it from me, it will be worth it to have your baby arrive safely. Wishing you all the best ❤️
I had an emergency C-section 6 weeks ago and it was honestly totally fine, even with it being emergent. Recovery has been so much easier than I anticipated. The epidural/spinal didn't hurt at all and hasn't given me any issues pp either. They'll put the catheter in after the epidural and you won't even feel it! I was up and walking just a few hours post op. My worst pain was probably a 5/10 and it was the day immediately post op. I never needed any stronger pain meds than Tylenol/ibuprofen. I was completely off the Tylenol/ibuprofen by 2.5-3 weeks pp. Now 6 weeks pp and I'm pretty much back to my normal, no pain at all and my incision is completely healed. However! I want to echo a comment above about the placenta moving up, you still have tons of time for it to migrate to a place where you may not need a c section in the end.
Hey! I had an emergency c section when going in to be induced for my son however I had gotten the epidural before because I was going to try to birth naturally. One thing I will say the epidural doesn’t hurt you honestly just feel pressure almost like someone is pushing into your back with a pencil eraser. I was the same way thinking about the epidural and spinal tap but contractions genuinely hurt way more! I will say after my c section I had a ton of trapped gas which does hurt your shoulders a bit they will feel like you pulled a muscle. My incision only hurt until I got my staples taken out so if you have the option for stitches ASK FOR IT!!! I will say everyone talks about how bad your back hurts after having the epidural yeah for the first couple weeks after birth back pain will occur but since then I have yet to experience any back pain around my epidural site. My scar is barely noticeable but that’s probably because I’m a little chubby hahaha. But even though a c section…
Sounds scary and in my case it was last minute and I was scared thinking my family wasn’t going to be in there in time and I was literally in and out of it. Though all of that and the epidural or spinal all of that there is nothing I would have changed because my son is here he is happy and healthy I am here I’m happy and healthy and that’s what’s important. I PROMISE YOU no matter what they have to do to get your baby here healthy and safe you will forget all about when you look into your little ones eyes!
When people said that to me during my pregnancy I just thought like okay yeah I guess but when I actually felt that feeling it was something completely unexplainable.
I had a low lying placenta at 32 weeks and was told I would have to have a c-section but then by 34 weeks it had moved and I went back to my original plan of a home birth. Due to a failure to progress I ended up having to have a section anyway which was completely fine. Recovery all smooth. I’d say try and stay positive that your placenta will move - you’ve still got a lot of time for movement! Happy to answer any questions
I had an emergency c-section back in May and had epidural and spinal too scar looks pretty good to be honest with you and back pain is annoying but I has back pain beforehand and to be honest it's only a bit worse it was quick and easy when the did it I didn't want any of it beforehand but my Lil girl took a dip on the monitors because she got caught in the umbilical cord but honestly I'm grateful for it my beautiful girl came from it and I'm now proud of my scar from it it's just a line across the pant line maybe just below it lol but look neet and heald up well honestly don't worry it'll be OK fast and easy x
Hopefully to ease your mind, but I had this and my placenta moved by my 32 week scan so yours still can 🙏 The spinal was not sure in the moment. I had some backache in the first few weeks, but that’s probably from the c section, being stuck in bed etc. Catheter did not feel like anything in the moment as they did it once spinal had kicked in. It was removed the next day and not painful. Also, I was 100% recovered in 7 weeks but active a lot sooner than this. I’m now nearly 2.5Y post partum and 34 weeks pregnant with zero scar complications/ feelings X Scar is big but it’s hidden under my panty line so not visible to anyone except me and my husband
To add, I had a very positive birth experience and doing it again this time.
Just to ease your worries, 9 times out of 10, low lying placentas move out of the way of the cervix by the time you deliver. I had one in my first pregnancy, went back for a follow up scan at 32 weeks and it had moved. It’s very common. My mum and MIL both had it, and a few friends I know too. Did they ask you to come back for a scan to check on the placenta location after 30 weeks as they should’ve done?
