Snacks

I sometimes worry if our 16 month old is getting enough to eat at mealtimes. He is happy to sit in the highchair for a good while and eats reasonably well. I usually start with a small portion of pasta or whatever and add to it if he seems to enjoy it. Then he'll have something else on the side like bread/garlic bread etc then fruit/yoghurt or both. I'm sometimes finding that only an hour or so after a meal, he's taking me to the snack box and desperate for a snack. He could eat snack after snack if I'd let him. Quite often when I'm in the middle of cooking or serving dinner, he's desperate for snacks. I just worry that he's not getting enough calories or something or is anyone else's wee ones little hungry Horace's!?

My son eats almost constantly, particularly at nursery. On Friday apparently he had multigrain hoops with milk for breakfast, a morning snack of crackers and cucumber sticks, fish and wedges with peas at lunch (I was almost embarrassed to see the note saying he had had two portions!) with peaches for pudding, an afternoon snack and then a tea of spaghetti hoops on toast and swiss roll. He then came home and had pitta pizza before 3oz milk at bedtime. I don't know where he puts it but at this age I believe they still self-regulate so don't eat more than they need 🤷 He has recently had a growth spurt so maybe it is connected to that.

This is my little girl! She spends her day banging on the snack cupboard door even though I’ve given her quite hefty meals each meal time. I also worry that I’m not feeding her enough but I also can’t see how I can feed her any more 😂. I also think it might be growth spurt related, or that they’re so active now they’re burning up an appetite maybe?
