Healthcare system

Why is it so bad these days? I’ve been seeing multiple GP’s since having my daughter 4 years ago for my extremely heavy, and irregular periods, was recently in the emergency department at the hospital with severe stomach pain where they dosed me up on way too many laxatives thinking that was the problem until I was yelled at by the doctor who’s ward I was sent up to because I didn’t know what was wrong with me which I replied with “that’s why I’m here, to find out what’s wrong with me?” He apologised and sent me up to get a scan done to find a cyst on my ovary so they told me to take Panadol and sent me home. Such a traumatic 24 hours. 3 weeks have passed and I have just gotten my period again and it’s so unbelievably heavy and painful and I’ve just come across a video on endometriosis. That’s what I have. It’s so obvious and I’m so angry that it hasn’t been picked up earlier. This isn’t the first time I’ve been let down by our healthcare system. Last time was when I was pregnant with my daughter, couldn’t eat or drink anything at all, lost 20kgs, GP’s kept prescribing morning sickness medication, went to the hospital cause I was passing out from dehydration and I kept telling the nurses that I felt like I was literally dying and then they sent me home with morning sickness meds. After I had my daughter I was talking to a friend who informed me that what I had sounded like hyperemesis gravidarum. Fuck them honestly. I could’ve lost my daughter and ended up really sick myself. Maybe I’m naive to not know about these conditions but isn’t that what the doctors are there for? Unless you go in there and tell them what you think is wrong with you and try to diagnose yourself so they know what to test for, you won’t ever find out what’s wrong with you.

After doing research on endometriosis, I could’ve been having procedures done to help it all these years but instead I’ve been locked up for a whole week every month because it’s been so bad I can’t leave the house. Does anyone know if that is right? Could I have been getting this fixed the whole time?

Hi incog. I also have Endo and it did take a while to diagnose, even while advocating for myself because the only true way to get a diagnosis is to do a surgical procedure to visualize the fibroids. I've had one procedure to remove fibroids and it helped my periods for about 3 months but that was it and then my fibroids regrew and everything is back to being pretty heavy and long. Personally, I think the procedures aren't worth it. The fibroids will always regrow. So unless it affects my ability to conceive next time I try, I won't be doing any more procedures to remove fibroids. If fibroid removal is something you are interested in, you can advocate for it with your provider. However, unless they are large enough to visualize they may not be able to do a removal.

There is a natural way to heal…you can consult a holistic doctor if that is feasible for you…there are so many toxins they put in our foods, body products and so forth that they disrupt our hormones and wreak havoc in our bodies…from what I know the holistic doctor will have to run tests that traditional doctors don’t like the level of toxins in your body and so forth…I am in the process of healing from diabetes type 2 and my period became irregular but then I took herbal blend tea and that brought my period back and since eliminating as much as I can toxins from my food my periods have been shorter and lighter…so your research and as you see these medical doctors don’t know anything about healing
