Kissing on the lips

I could never imagine kissing my baby on the lips! This came up in conversation with my husband and he was confused. To him the idea of kissing our baby on the lips is completely normal and that often toddlers even ask for kisses! I couldn’t believe it. Would you kiss your baby on the lips?

Yep, all the time. My 3yo loves a smooch. My eldest is 8 and doesn't do it very often now

I think it’s just personal choice and how you’ve been brought up to be honest. Some people find some things weird some people over-sexualise things and some people wouldn’t have given it a second of thought. I kiss my babies on lips and all over the face. I’ve had the same done when I was a kid and I don’t find it odd. Kisses with children are different than they are with adults and obviously some day it will naturally stop and that’s fine.

I'm the same as you, I know a lot of parents do it and no judgement at all, but for me just the idea of it makes me very uncomfortable, and that's not even thinking of all the germs I could be passing on when they're little! For me, there's many other ways to show affection, and kissing on the lips is something that I would only do with my partner - just like I wouldn't show my partner affection by blowing raspberries on his belly 😂

Yep all the time. Lately my 3yo is saying no kisses and wants them on the cheek instead. Totally fine. They will set their boundaries

We both give our son kisses on the lips and he also runs up to us and kisses us 🥰. It’s so cute. In the morning before nursery he asks me for 20 kisses lol and the same before he goes to sleep. I’m getting in as many as I can before he gets older and doesn’t want to give me lip kisses anymore 🤣
