VBAC likelihood

I had a c section with my first due to pre eclampsia, I chose that rather than induction. I’m pregnant with baby number 2 and can’t decide what to do. I’ve read that a VBAC is more likely to be successful if your body has laboured before which obviously mine hasn’t. Has anyone been in this situation not gone through labour 1st time and then had a successful VBAC?

I’m a midwife and my advice to you would be that you have every chance at a vaginal birth as any first time labouring mother (not second) and to go for it if that’s what you want! However would suggest you keep an open mind and make a birth plan for both VBAC and elective c section as if you developed preeclampsia again then I think you’d be unlikely to be offered an induction and would be recommended an elective c section by consultants x

@Becca thank you for this!

i did the exact same thing as you with my first pregnancy megan, i had pre eclampsia too. im now 38+2 hoping for a VBAC! so far everything is looking positive for it to happen. i also have a c section date in place too incase symptoms creep up again last minute. happy to share my experience with you once im over the other side! xx

@Ashleigh ooh best of luck!! Yes please that would be great x
