Talking one year old!

My son doesn’t like to really repeat! 13months. So far says dads, fish, socks, hats, socks, hot, toes, shoes, turtle and maybe one or two more. People keep asking when he’s gonna actually talk! And are making me nervous. He listens to commands & understands what we’re saying I believe.

One thing I’ve learned is people will always have something to say or compare. My baby is 13 months and is not saying as near as many words as yours. Every kid is different, they developed differently but doesn’t mean they are behind. I honestly wouldn’t be worried. Continue to do what you’re doing, your baby will talk and once he does he probably won’t stop lol. You are doing great just based on this post I can tell.

I agree with Leah about comparison, my little boy is 13 months old and literally only says daddy (da-deeee) but other than that is literally babbling, everyone I know with babies similar age is the same. Don’t let other people make you nervous, some people have a tendency to exaggerate and some kids just develop in different ways at different speeds

Thank you guys. I’m a first time mom and the mom shame & guilt feels so heavy sometimes

@Bre I get it. I’m a first time mom as well, you just have to tune others out. Your mom journey is going to look different than others.

Babies normally have the first words by 15 months. That is very impressive! Most babies don’t really start talking until they are close to 2 years old.

People have HIGH expectations for random babies. My daughter can take a couple seps but does not fully walk yet and strangers think something is wrong with her. But she has a pretty large vocabulary for her age. It is so weird.

Yep yours is saying more than mine!! Sometimes I’ll ask her to repeat something and it kind of sounds like what I just said - but not clearly. Says Dad, and I think baba was today. 👏🏻👏🏻 it’s no race, babe will get there!
