I always pushed to proceed when I had “too many follicles.” My 4th IUI (our last attempt at IUI) I had 6 follicles and I urged them that I wanted to proceed. Still didn’t get pregnant from that cycle and we ultimately decided to move on to IVF. I know some doctors are adamant about not proceeding, but luckily my clinic allowed me to with heavy medical warnings of the risks, etc! Best of luck!
I had 3 follicles and they told me not to try that cycle, but did anyway and now sitting here with my son!
@Georgia what did you say to them to convince them you’re still happy to proceed.
So they said if each of those fertilise I’d have triplets and I said I would rather have triplets than 0 after years of infertility and that I would try anyway. They then said I’d need a scan ASAP which I was happy to do but I was going to be away for 10 days so they scheduled it for the day after I got home. Then I asked for progesterone which they said they couldn’t prescribe until they knew how many eggs fertilised but as I was going away and had just had a miscarriage, somehow they gave me a progesterone prescription which I started 3DPO.
This happened to us back in March! Took the lowest dose 2.5 for five days, then when they checked follicles weren’t where they were supposed to be. I was then given 5mg for one day came back & still not exactly where I should be (only showing one follicle almost ready to go around 14mm) I was then given 7.5mg to take in one night to come back in two days. At that point there were 3 over 16mm & multiple other follicles not too far off 🙃. They ended up canceling the treatment, told us to come back the following month to try again. It was so defeating, we ended up going back in five more months & I am currently pregnant from that cycle! Only thing that changed was being on metformin & taking 5mg for five days. Ended up with one 18mm with a trigger. Best of luck, mama! 🫶🏾
