One year old getting disinterested in food

My once super foodie one year old is not eating as much solids as he should. Everything I’ve given him he hates: eggs, starches like potatoes, yams, sweet potato, etc. I need suggestions on how to keep him eating good portions. I’ve tried only giving him a bit of food on his plate at a time, but it’s become a hassle of him flipping the plate and food goes everywhere. Some things he likes: fish, chicken stew, ribs, orange chicken, pho chicken soup, carrots, Korean chives and shrimp pancakes, pickled radish, eggplant, celery and Mediterranean salad. The issue is he is not eating all his food. Like he will take five or more bites then is all done. He eats every 3hours and I avoid snacks after 4pm. His snacks are rice crackers, smoothies, fruit yogurt. I also noticed redness in the molar area so maybe could also be due to new teeth pain? It’s really stressful during meal time :(

Try and see if you can find some watermelon, and freeze it into rectangles (something he can grip) the frozen will help the pain if it’s teething but also eating! I know my girl can get super Snacky and not want to get decent meals, just know eating can ebb and flow. Think of food consumption on a weekly basis and not daily.

He may be teething.. but I’d also cut out snacks for now until he eats more of his meals, other than snacks that help with teething pain.

@Valeria yes, I switched out the fruit smoothies for less dense snacks like cucumbers. I think he was getting too full off the smoothies 😂 thank you!

@Xiomara E. Yay 😀 glad I could help. Fruit smoothies fill me up too!
