Ditching dummy

I’m considering ditching the dummy in the new year, it’s becoming a problem whereby she’s constantly searching for it then ends up spitting it out and it’s a continuous cycle. I know she can fall asleep without it, she does in the car but it’s the naps in the house I’d find difficult to remove it. Any hints and tips?

I haven’t taken it off my LO completely but he doesn’t use it a lot. When I can tell hes getting tired I tend to nurse him to sleep then if he needs it to drift off he’ll use it and spit it out once asleep

So we are 5 days into ditching the dummy cold turkey. From everything I’ve researched into, if it’s becoming a negative sleep association then the dummy needs to be gone unless you want to wait until they’re old enough to replace the it themselves in the night. We started from the morning, and needed to be a lot more hands on with getting him to sleep. I.e rocking, patting, shh, pacing the whole shabang lol. The first few nights were difficult but they were already difficult with the dummy. Last few nights we have been getting longer stretches - last night 6 hours! (Touch wood) buttt either end of those stretches he still needs resettling a few times (probs the regression for those wake ups) I still feel like he is searching for it sometimes but I’m hoping it’s going to get easier. You have to stay strong and not cave otherwise it may confuse them even more. Good luck and if you have any questions pop me a message x

Between 4-6 months is the best time to ditch the dummy. It is hard but worth it if that’s what you’re after x
