Milk 🥛

Hi there, baby boy is now 13 months and still relies on his milk twice, sometimes 3 times a day. However he is really struggling with his bowel movements. He’s bled a few times and has been in pain since starting cows milk. I was told to put him straight onto cows milk and he does love it! But it’s giving him such a bad tummy. I’m wondering if it’s worth putting him on toddler formula rather than cows milk? Any help is appreciated x

Hey! My little one was transitioned onto cows milk but was straining a lot when he had to go poo and also changed the colour. The doctor suggested to go back to formula until we can find an alternative with the dietician’s recommendation. I’ve been using the toddlers milk and he seems to be doing well. He’s been off his food lately so been giving him more milk n fluids to make sure he’s hydrated.

Could do. Could try goats milk instead too? It's meant to be softer on the stomach.

If there has been blood I would talk to the doctors. He might actually be allergic/intolerant to it!

My LO was breastfeed and then goats milk formula, so I wasn’t sure about giving him cows milk. On the 1 year revision my Health Visitor told me it was ok to transition and him whole Goats milk, and he hasn’t had any problems! Maybe you could try, it’s softer on the stomach, has more proteins and more calories :)

We were told they don’t actually Have to have cows milk if they get the calcium from different sources so we have dropped the morning milk and just have cows milk in a bottle in the evening which has helped a little x

@N L he’s heavily reliant on his milk still so taking it from him would cause a lot of upset. I’ve put him back onto formula and he’s like a different baby already x

@Becky he’s been back on formula for 4 days since I posted this, 1-2 bottles a day depending. And he’s like a different baby. Would it be okay for me to put him on the next stage formula rather than stage 1? X

@Ellie you know bubs best xx

@Ellie pretty sure the formulas are the same just marketed differently. It’s upto you if you want to put him on the next one but staying on what he is on is fine too
