Pre-diabetic diagnosis

I am 1 year postpartum and was just diagnosed as pre-diabetic. My “doctor” was less than helpful. Wouldn’t see me in person and had a nurse call me on the phone and her only advice was to “cut back on carbs” They say it most likely started during/ after pregnancy but I was never diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Anyway, does anyone have any advice? What can I eat? Meal ideas, etc. thank you!

Yeah I mean stay away from carbs. Yo I can still log course eat them but don’t eat a ton of rice or a ton of carbs. Do mostly protein and veggies and some fruit. Cut back on sugary stuff and snacks and cakes and fast food stuff. Mostly just a healthier diet

I was in the same boat exactly! I don't have gestational diabetes but became prediabetic 6 months after birth! I went on a low carb diet and cut out sugar (relaxed keto) and lost 9.5 kilos in three months and reversed the prediabeties. Breakfasts - always have savoury. Eggs, cheese, avocado, tomatoes Lunch - chicken breast or steak with veg Dinner - same as above but more slow cooked like spaghetti bolognaise but with the sauce on a butternut squash with cheese instead of pasta I also ate most fruits as didn't want to be too strict

I got diagnosed pre pregnancy and they didn’t really say much. They gave me metformin & recommended I go see a nutritionist which I did. It helped.

They will want you to go on metformin. Before you do that, I'd go to a doctor who actually listens to you and ask them to check you for PCOS. They will need to check you via blood tests, ultrasound to make a diagnosis. They can't tell just by looking at you and if they try to make the diagnosis that way, find an ob who actually listens to you and does the tests. In place of metformin, I've been using myo inositol and I've been able to avoid taking drugs like metformin. As for diet, the Mediterranean diet is a very safe and healthy diet to follow and will help. There's also an actual diabetic diet that you can follow.

Along with diet changes exercise is great for this. Specifically cardio.

I was diagnosed with prediabetes before pregnancy. They just told me to change my diet and exercise to reverse it.
