@Sophie I will definitely try this with naps today! What about bedtime?
I made everything one hour earlier. So food at 4.30 instead of 5.30. Bath at 5 instead of 6 etc. Wind down and then a walk. Dunno what it is but fresh air knocks my two out. Then into bedroom with white noise and complete darkness. Same principle. If it’s taking longer than 20 minutes, I remove from the bedroom, keep awake for another 15 minutes to practise skills again eg, rolling over/pushing up/reaching for toys etc then try the bedroom again. If that doesn’t work then I try food and eliminate….is he cold/hot, hungry?, bored, change his nappy etc. If all of THAT doesn’t work then I cancel sleep because it isn’t gonna happen and we try again the next day 😂 How did you get on today?
I have a rule that’s kept me sane with both of mine. If it’s taking longer than 20 minutes, it isn’t going to happen so wait for the next wake window to be over. Honestly, practise their developmental skills in that time. It stopped the stress, the tears and the frustration.
