Baby sleeping

Hi lovelies! My baby girl is a newly 4 month and she’s something else. Tonight I was struggling with getting her to sleep. Since last week I stopped rocking and holding her to sleep because I was told she would become dependent on those things. Well tonight through every attempt at getting her to fall asleep in her crib she was so fussy that I ended up calling my mom. My mom said, “Meet that baby where she is.” I say all this to say, do what your baby needs in the now and focus on the future when it comes. If your baby wants to be held, hold them…this time goes by so fast.

Absolutely agree! Sometimes my baby goes to bed on his own and some nights he wants mommy to snuggle and him and rock to bed! I’m going to do what helps my child get a good nights rest

@Celecia Being a first time mom I’m still learning that she won’t be consistent and that’s okay. I rocked her to bed tonight and that’s what she needed so thank you for that reminder too

I feel ya. Every mom of adult kids I’ve spoken to recently (mostly family) has said, put your kid down, you’re going to spoil him. But I don’t believe that’s true… you spoil them with possessions and behaviors… if your baby is crying and is comforted by being in your arms, do it. Sometimes my son screams bloody murder until I put him upright on my shoulder so he can put his forehead against my jaw (which is how he slept when he was a newborn on my chest). Other times he hates that and will only settle to sleep while I’m standing in the bathroom directly under the bathroom fan. There’s no right or wrong. Your mom was spot on! Meet that baby where she is! And of course, cherish every minute because before you know it, she’ll be grown and “too big” for mom snuggles and hugs and kisses…

I rocked my first for every nap and bedtime until he was 2 and I don’t regret any of the sleepless nights! My 4 month old likes being rocked but because I also have to help the older kid sometimes, she has learned to put herself to sleep about half the time if I lay her down 🤷🏼‍♀️ idk how that happened
