Oral steroids for flare up

The doctor has prescribed my 10 month old a 3 day course of oral steroid Prednisolone 5mg. Her eczema flare ups are persistent and she is itching very aggressively. She has antihistamines and creams but they do next to nothing to stop the itching. Obviously I really don’t want to give her oral steroids but she is so unhappy. Has anyone used these before and what was your experience please?

My son got croup before and they gave him a dose of oral steroids to help this and his skin cleared up for like 2 days but then flared straight back up again. But we were only given one dose so maybe with a 3 day course it might keep it under control for longer

I think they’re used fairly commonly in children with asthma! I don’t know about using it for eczema, it definitely helps to control asthma attacks x
