Epidural caused me back pain

I’m so mad the hospital scared me into interventions and eventually I asked for an epidural. Now I have back pain and I am thinking it’s related to the epidural. Does it go away?

Im 2 mo pp and especially in this cold my back is hurting so bad 😢

@Kat Smdh

You could have researched before you went into labour. The pain could also just be from carrying around a baby etc now.

ya and i’m sure they made u sign the waiver that said it may cause lifelong back issues

Don't forget babies move your organs etc to fit. It could be that. I'd ask for a referral to a physio, they might be able to help you stretch it out

I also recommend pelvic floor therapy. It may not seem related but your back muscles are very much connected to your core and pelvic floor and it might help with the back pain. I also for the epidural and had back pain but mine disappeared and I feel fine now. I’m sorry your birth experience wasn’t the greatest just know you’re not alone. So many moms are lied to or pressured into interventions that often aren’t necessary. All you can is learn from it and learn how to advocate for yourself in the future

@Lauryn I did research and asked the anesthesiologist obviously

@Annie they mentioned nothing about back issues and I even asked them they said no

@Natalie I plan to

@✨Wis 🇭🇹 thanks. I did Pelvic floor therapy with my last child and it was extremely helpful

15 years later I still have back pain. I only got the epidural once with my first pregnancy, and it is my biggest regret! It gets worse as I age and in the cold weather 😫. I also asked the doctors the chances of back pain , & was reassured it was minimal to no risk.

Myofascial release for site relief. Worked for me, will be getting it again.

yeah, just because they didn’t say it though doesn’t mean it’s not written on the paper you signed

I'm sorry 😞 this is why I insisted on a completely unmedicated birth, I know so many women who experience back pain after an epidural

I was told it’s pregnancy that causes back pain, not the epidural (presumably unless you have some kind of nerve damage? Not sure about that). I did have back pain and I had an epidural but it faded after a few months. I’ve always had a dodgy back though.

@Jennifer smh 15 years I hope that’s not the case for me ! I’m going to try pelvic floor therapy like Wis suggested maybe that might help
