Baby walker unwanted gift

Mother in law has gifted baby a baby walker. I ve read that health specialists don’t recommend them as they are considered unsafe and they can hinder baby’s development. I feel so bad that I ve told my mother in law (who didn’t seem bothered at face value - but not to sure if these are her true sentiments). She s sent an amazon return label, but we’ve got to pay for return postage. So conflicted on what to do now. As I feel I’m gonna pay return postage on a gift we didn’t want in the first place. Not to sound ungrateful, because I appreciate their gesture. Just wish they would have asked us first 😅 Similar thing happened with other grandparents who gifted him the wrong sized clothes, plus a soft toy he already has 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. I’ve never been in a position to ask to return gifts and yet this year twice in one holiday. Not really sure how to deal with it without hurting anyone’s feelings

Depending on the type of walker a lot of them have double uses and double as a toy you could still use? My son had 2 walkers, I didn’t really find it hindered anything, but think it’s all in moderation and under supervision it’s fine. Otherwise I would just resell them on, or exchange if you know where clothes are from.

Is it a sit in walker or a push along one?

If it’s a push along walker it’s fine! It’s the ones they sit in that causes issues. If you don’t want it for valid reasons I think it’s perfectly understandable. I’d sell it - unless she’s wanting it returned so she can get a refund?

If it's a sit in jumperoo type one, you're right they're not recommended. Charity shops won't even take them for health and safety reasons. We got given one, but we hardly put our son in it. But he liked shaking it and playing with the toys and listening to the music. It takes up a lot of space though. I think returning is a reasonable thing to do but I'm the sort of person who'd feel bad too. You could ask to change it for a push walker - they are good and my son really loved it.

@Luba yeah it’s the one they sit in .

@Rachael wow I didn’t realise not even charity shops will take them. I ve also discovered that they’re banned in Canada they are considered so unsafe. So I m starting to feel less bad about telling her 😇

You won’t have to pay return postage usually but it’s taken out the order value anyone gets back. If you got a gift receipt off Amazon they usually give you the full value back as it’s just a credit with them.
