Overfeed formula

Is it possible to overfeed a baby on formula? My nearly 5 month old has 5x 270ml Kendamil bottles a day and I've just looked on their website and it shows he's drinking way more than what's on their, should I be worried ??

I've been wondering the same thing because my baby is the same, but I'm not gonna let him go without food - as long as he's taking it and not refusing/being forced fed then I wouldn't say we are overfeeding at all. We just have hungry babies 😊 My boy was 9lbs9 at birth so was probably always gonna want a lot of milk haha

Yeah he just turns his head when he's done so he just seems a hungry boy ! He was a 10lb11 😂 I guess I'm worrying for no reason then haha

I was referred to paediatrics due to my son being above the percentiles (he was all fine, just tall) I was also worried at the time about over feeding but the Dr at the hospital says babies can have 100ml of Formula per kg of weight per day, so I just go by this now rather than what the formula tub says and it turned out I was giving him a lot less than what he could have.xx

You can overfeed unfortunately. Not all babies will show the expected symptoms of vomiting, discomfort, loose stools etc they will just gain excessive weight. Obviously different babies have different needs, a baby on 10th centile won’t take as much as 1 on 90th centile so I would probably just speak to your HV about it and make sure he isn’t gaining too much weight ☺️ My girl will be 5 months on 29th and I’ve only just managed to get her to drink a couple of 180ml bottles a day 🤦🏼‍♀️ she was 6lb 11 born and has cmpa and wasn’t gaining weight properly so her having 800ml a day is a win for us right now 😅

Babies have a good barometer of when they’re full. I’ve always fed on demand with my kids because who would want their child to go hungry?🤷🏼‍♀️ at this age it’s recommended for babies to have 21-32oz and if babe wants more to feed as they like. My first born was always maxing out on milk but my boy has 28oz a day most days and he’s much bigger than she ever was! There’s so much outdated advice unfortunately and a lot of it comes from professionals x
