Has anyone experienced very dark looking poo due to stress? Like it looks black in the toilet but then when you wipe it’s very very dark green. This is definetly not food related.

I poo very little each time and have diarrea. The first two times were brown and then the last one looked black in the toilet bowl- but when I wiped it was dark green with black bits.

Are you on iron tablets?

@Sarah🦄 Not on iron table

Sounds like maybe a stomach flu? Multivitamins can do it or some foods ( which it's not as you said already) any pain?

I had what you describe for 3 months once and I had all the GI testing possible and they couldn’t explain why.

@Libby so I took inositol, omega 3, vitamin d - been taking this for here and there and it’s never cause almost black poo. I did get stomach ache middle of the night yesterday. I had diaorriah last week for one day. Then I just got smaller look stools / not diarreah. But since today, for diarreah again, but my poo always feels incomplete. But yeah only had a bad stomach ache last night in the middle of the night before I had diarrhoea

@Christina🤱🏼🍂☕️♈️ colonoscopy and endoscopy? Did you get any pain or feel like your poo was incompletely. Did you get constant bowel changes too?

I was diagnosed with IBS in my late teens/20 and it was straight water for an entire month and the consistency of it changed. I had a colonoscopy twice and ultrasounds and scans. Stool samples. Never had any pain or discomfort. I did have accidents without any warning though.

Sounds viral. I don't think stress can change poo colour. Anxiety can change poo (anxiety poo is usually like diarrhoea) but wouldn't change the colour.

@Ella what is a viral stomach infection? Do they just go away on their own?

Ive had this for a couple of days, i have bad anxiety that cause me to have ibs. Im either constantly pooping or not going 😭 tmi but just to give you a piece of mind. If you are consuming loads meat that can also be the reason, I am also having inositol and vitamin d. If your worried go doctors and check it out

Viral gastro, tummy bug, sickness bug. Lots of names for it. Just any type of virus that causes gastrointestinal systems eg nausea, stomach cramps, vomiting or diarrhoea.

Can last 24 hours or up to two weeks

@Mayah hey thank you for your message. So I actually don’t have any red meat anymore. I’ve stopped having it, it’s been 4 months. I do however take inositol and vitamin d. Can this cause almost black looking poo? And yes I still need to get checked

@Ella see I had diaorriah once last week, but then it came back again yesterday.

Vitamin D definitely isn’t causing the color change. I’ve been taking vitamin D supplements for over 10 years. Idk what the other supplement is but that’s a possibility. Vitamin B can change the pee a highlighter yellow color

Hi black stool if not due to diet/supplements/iron, is almost always some bleeding please go and see a Dr and get your full blood count checked *disclaimer: I am a Dr*

@Linda the thing is- I’m not sure if it was true black poo. When I wiped, it was very dark green and had some black bit. However in the toilet bowl it appeared black.

Like the color of spinach?

The black stool I am talking about should look like tar/ greasy if it is digested blood. If in doubt always see a medic.

Bismuth can do that. Have you taken pepto recently?
