Any advice for someone that has been through a lot in life and can come off as rough sometimes, how can they be more softer, more welcoming to others?

I feel like when you been through a lot, you don’t always trust others and it can make it harder to be friendly or friends with others.

I would just say, take deep breaths, relax your shoulders and your jaw (often we clench without even noticing) and try to smile more

@Ella thank you! I definitely need to smile more.

There are a lot of self development books on the market that touch on this area. I would suggest looking into a few & if you don’t like to read there are ways to listen to many books now

It helps me to think of myself as a badass instead of a survivor. I LIVED and am still *mostly* sane after everything I’ve been through. I am proud of who I am and confident I can handle anything that happens in the future because of the experiences I have already had to navigate. I guess my advice is to know yourself well enough to be able to trust your gut so you don’t have to operate from a place of fear.

Also, it helps me to remember that although there have been some profoundly negative people/moments in my life the people/moments that were neutral or positive far out numbered the negatives.
