When to go to the hospital?

I’ve started getting cramping every 20 mins ish, not lost my plug as far as I’m aware and my waters haven’t broken. When did you guys know to call up the hospital? My due date is tomorrow so she could come anytime really but how am I meant to know when that time is? 👶🏻

If they get stronger and more regular.. I rang and they gave advise ( have a bath, take paracetamol, hot water bottle)... wen they get strong enough to take ur breath away and u get more then 4 (I think) in 10 mins I then went in.

My midwife advise to call hospital with waters break or your contractions are every 3-4 mins apart 45-60 seconds a time. I’ve been getting a lot of cramping and hard belly but it’s braxton hicks as like you, no waters broken, no mucus plug etc. If you feel reduced movements or concerned call them anyway for advice as they will happily advise xxx

When you have 3 in 10 minutes, lasting 45-60 seconds is when they say to go in. Or at antenatal they thought us 5-1-1 - contractions every 5 minutes lasting at least 1 minute for an hour.

We first called when they were about 7 minutes apart lasting about 50 seconds. Took a while for them to pull up my records ect but it meant when we called to say they were 4 minutes apart and lasting about 90 seconds they were already ready for us to arrive. I was already 8cm at that stage 😅

Thanks everyone, I’m quite literally terrified to push out a tiny human but hopefully this is the start of it 🤞🏻xx

@B had your waters broken or anything or just the contractions? Wow 8cm, you just about made it 😂!

I was contacting every 2-4 mins when I went in to be assessed ((they said I could stay at home or go in the be checked but to be prepared to be sent home as first baby)), when I got there I was already 9cm! Trust your gut and go in if you feel it’s time!

If they're every 20 minutes I would probably wait a little longer as long as you're ok and baby's movements are ok. You can always ring triage for advice / to give them a heads up though.

I started with contractions at 4am this Morning and used an app to track them. They were about 5 mins ish apart and lasting almost up to a minute - called Mac and they advise you can either go in to be examined or wait it out a bit longer. I ended up going in and had my little girl at 9:42! X

@Ella wow congratulations!!! I hope my Labour is similar xx

@Kate 🤞🏼🌈 thank you!! this was my second. My first labour was around 24 hour ish (pushing for an hour or so) This time i didn’t loose full plug or waters breaking until I was almost ready to push. It’s hard on your body but so rewarding! Good luck to you for when it’s your turn ❤️

@Ella thank you ! First baby for me so absolutely petrified but also excited. It’s just all the unknown isn’t it. I was due yesterday so just waiting now xx

Once you’re having contractions every 3 minutes lasting 45 seconds, your waters have broken, have any bleeding, baby’s movements are different to usual or if you’re not coping at home.

I had nothing, no bloody show, no mucous plug and my waters only broke as I was delivering. Just trust your body to do as it needs to do. You really are the one that knows best when the time comes. Best of luck!

I started tracking timings using the Freya app, which recommends when to call - which also helps triage know who might be coming in! But in all honesty there was a single moment where I looked at my partner and just said “we’re in the wrong place, we need to go” and I was 4cm when we arrived that was definitely a tell 😅 I had lost mucus plug but waters only went during labour x
