Thanks for the info. it's a KiBi Carrier
@Heather do you know if it's intended for newborns? The info I found on the KiBi simple carrier suggests starting at 2-3mo.
That's the thing, I don't know. The instructions on how to use it don't call it out. I think I will wait though, it doesn't feel quite right. Just tried it in the house today for the first time
Unfortunately some carriers just aren't made for newborns and don't specifically fit that young at all. And those that do either require an insert to fit newborns..... Or only fit newborns. They used to have newborn fitting carriers , but it looks like they don't anymore. Ring slings work for smaller kids. I used a ring sling until my son was big enough for a structured carrier
I still could use a ring sling, but I'm not a big fan of them
This is definitely not right, the airways need to be well clear. Have a look at guidelines online. You need either a fabric wrap one or one with a newborn insert as they need more support to sit right. Definitely he shouldn’t have his head curled down
And you also can't face them out until they are sitting in their own. And they can't world face and fall asleep, because that's a suffocation risk
Look into a beco Gemini ? ....or maybe a lillebaby with an insert, since lillebaby needs an insert. Or a lillebaby complete ,which is the one that doesn't need an insert
Lillebaby as far as I know should ship globally
Hey, it looks like the carrier is too big for bub just now. Stretchy wraps are good for newborn and in Scotland we get them free in the baby box so there's loads on vinted for about £5 (grey stretchy wrap). I like a ring sling and did feet in for first few weeks
Find a sling library near you, they are usually run by baby wearing consultants. Woven/stretchy/ring slings would probably be the best until baby is bigger for a sturdy carrier- would look into Tulla. I used a stretchy in the beginning, took a good while to get it wrapped properly but once I managed it was a life saver during Christmas lights switch on, my youngest was about 3 months old.
He looks too low right now. The photo isn't the clearest so it's hard to make out details, but from what I can see this is a serious suffocation risk for a newborn and you need to stop using it this way. What's the name of the carrier, so we can get some clearer images of its fasteners?
