Health anxiety

My baby is 2 weeks old and I've noticed in the last week I'm so paranoid about every little thing she does or doesn't do might mean she's ill. She pulls strange little faces straight after feeding, she makes squeaky little noises in her sleep, I even start worrying when she's sleeping well! I know realistically she's fine but can't seem to shift the anxiety that something is wrong with her. Has anybody else experienced this?

Sounds like ppa, I would reach out to your provider, they can offer resources and guidance!

At 2 weeks, you are going through a major hormonal drop, and it's horrible what it does to your anxiety. I would reach out to your OB and keep an eye on it. You are in the thick of it and will get better soon! Also, staying off social media (Instagram, FB, Reddit) may help; in my case, it was contributing a lot to my anxiety.

I suppose being a first time mum, I'm bound to be anxious about every little noise and over analyse everything! 😔

@Gemma, I think it is good you are awere of it and don't ignore it. PPA is a real thing and no joke, speaking from experience.

I promise mama it’s gonna go away so suddenly you’re not gonna even notice. I was the same way I cried for hours everyday when my baby was 2 weeks old.

my midwife told me that a certain level of anxiety and paranoia was normal for the first few weeks as a ftm, however if you aren’t sleeping due to anxiety when she’s asleep you should seek help. either way this is something you should bring up to your doctor at a postpartum appointment so that you have documentation in case things get worse for you over time. i was diagnosed with ppd and ppa when my daughter was 4 months old and it was like a drop off a cliff. one day i was fine the next i was convinced she was going to die if she was with anyone except me and constant so angry and sad. i wanted nothing to do with her but didn’t want anyone else to have her either. just don’t ignore the signs and get help as soon as you need it
