So what happens now?

I’m currently having a miscarriage, and I haven’t really had much information on what happens next! How long do I bleed for? What happens if I test positive in 2-3 weeks time? Do they automatically cancel all of my appointments that I had scheduled in or do I need to do that? I’ve had no information on it from the EPU as they are closed as was informed formally I was miscarrying on Christmas Day by the out of hours team! Just feeling a bit lost and deflated..

First of all so sorry you’re going through this and to answer your questions everyone bleeds for different period of times. When I miscarried I bled for 7 days just like a period at first it was very heavy to the point I wore the disposable underwear and then moved onto pads. If you test positive after the 3 weeks they will do a scan and bloods to check for any retained tissue and in that case they will give you different options (I’m not sure about these as I passed everything naturally). As for the appointments they should cancel them all but give them a ring as they never cancelled mine and I had the hospital ring me to remind me about my 12 week scan x

Hey lovely so sorry you’re going through this and haven’t had the information to help you either. My trust gave me several leaflets from the Miscarriage Association, they can be downloaded online (https://www.miscarriageassociation.org.uk/information/leaflets/) Your experience may differ to mine but to answer your questions I bled for a month on/off, mine was a missed miscarriage so my body took a while to properly realise. The bleeding would vary from ‘period’ level to large clots which required the thickest pads available although I could usually feel the pressure and pass in the toilet/shower. I took 8 weeks off work. I tested negative about 7 weeks after my MMC was confirmed. If you test positive still they may try tablets to force your body to cramp and release any retaining products or suggest surgery. Double check with EPU that it’s on your record as they will cancel your appts. I was 10 weeks when I found out and baby had stopped progressing at 7 weeks x

I’m really sorry to ask but did you bleed heavily at the start? I think I’m having one but the bleeding isn’t that bad compared to other ones I’ve had but my stomach and back hurt so bad! X

@Courtney no worries at all, no to begin with it was light brown spotting and then after I had an internal scan it became thicker and then went to my EPU had another internal scan and then it was heavy “period” type blood with big clots which started last Monday and finished yesterday! I also had stomach cramps and back ache! Have you been to have a scan or anything lovely?xx

@ellie thankyou🙂I hope your okay🤗haven’t no, but it’s got worse now so it definitely is. But thankyou for replying xx
