Breastfeeding plus formula supplement successfully?

Baby is super fussy at night time. I’ve been giving a few ounces of formula near bedtime to help. I pump after I give the formula to stimulate. It’s so tedious but I want to try to breastfeed as long as I can. I breastfed my first for 13 months. I’m pretty sure I supplemented like this at the start too. I don’t remember. I just don’t want my supply to tank. Anyone else supplementing a little bit? Is it working for you?

Hi! Yes Im supplementing a little bit. I was giving only breastmilk first but then got sick and got mastitis so supply was very low, started giving formula here and there and I kind of like it, takes pressure off of me. I give what I have and if I cant pump enough I mix bm with some formula. Or sometimes just give formula.

@Ana awesome! Oh my goodness I had mastitis a few weeks ago as well 😩

I have been supplementing since she was about a month old. I replace her last feed of the day with a bottle of formula. I was a bit of an oversupplier and it caused my supply to drop about 8oz but this was because I allowed it and didn’t pump in place of the feed to decrease the oversupply. If I wasn’t giving it to her for medical reasons I would still be able to give her 100% breastmilk and her be satisfied

@Kamari 💛 good to hear!!
