Highchair nightmare!

For those of you whose little ones hate the highchair what do you do? She literally will not stay in it 2 minutes to eat! I end up letting her out and putting her plate of food down on the floor in the living room and she plays and comes back and forth to pick at her dinner/lunch. Sometimes walking around eating. But it's the only way she'll actually eat food! Anyone or just me?!

Could you try her with a little table and chairs? If she goes to nursery she'll likely be used to this. My eldest refused the high chair and would only eat at his little table. I'd originally bought it for doing crafts with him!

Same here. I don’t know what to do

Mine is also on a mini table and chair...he still walks around, but he can understand, "sit down" and will go and sit without help. Like Caroline said they'll learn to sit at a table at nursery so it's quite useful

My LO has always been terrible with a high chair, either climbing out or crying. He eats really well at nursery at the table and chairs so we bought him the Ikea little table and chairs for Christmas. He does much better with this and less stress for everyone! X

Great suggestions ladies thank you! I didn't think of a little table and chairs but fab idea ... ! Xx

Same here. We've also tried a little table and chairs and a booster seat at the dining table. Both worked for a short while then back to hating it! He'll currently only eat sat on my lap 🥲

Around this age some kids don’t sit & eat food, they do the whole ‘graze while playing’ where they come back & forth for food. It’s completely normal! It also can be very annoying but I wouldn’t worry, as long as they are getting nutritious food throughout the day, the fact they don’t sit for a meal is fine☺️ (I’m a qualified Nursery Practitioner btw🙈)

@Hannah thank you that's reassuring to know! It's hard when you've got no other kids around to compare your own to! Mines definitely a grazer and eats while she's on the go. I'm just worried about the safety side of it aswell. I watch her like a hawk mind xx

Bribe with a piece of fruit or cheese Desert just to get in there lol. Then another bit of cheese for each arm to go in the bibado bib!
