Throwing Food

Curious if anyone else has found a solution to this issue. We haven't had many problems with her throwing food until sheno longer wanted to eat in the high chair. Lately she's been throwing food more and more. Any things that have been tried to help minimize the amount of completely eliminate them doing it? Anything to try would be so appreciated!

Currently going through this and he won’t use utensils. He wants to feed himself with his hands only lol

@Marissa 😂 sounds about right lol we're about 60/40 on using spoon vs hands only lol she'll take a few bites with her spoon, throw her spoon, and then whine to get it back 🤦‍♀️ I literally was cleaning my table top with our vacuum tonight lol

Our high chair tray has a little insert for a cup in the corner. It’s hit or miss but I try to redirect our LO to put food in there is he doesn’t want it. It’s usually after he throws the first piece of food but it actually works to give him an alternative place to put what he doesn’t want.

It’s a phase. I’ve noticed when she’s about done eating I have 2 seconds after she says all done to get the plate before it’s on the floor. I also have her pick up the food when she’s done. Sometimes it ends up in her mouth 🤷🏾‍♀️. I use to be sooo embarrassed at restaurants with my first but they grow out of it. I’ve heard people use an empty bowl and teach them to put unwanted food in the bowl instead of the floor.

@Sharon I've heard of the bowl thing. But never knew how effective it was. May have to try it 🤷‍♀️

@Haley 💚 I don't even get an all done before it. She'll be eating and then all of a sudden throwing!!! Like girl! Where did that come from?!?! 😂 I haven't tried having her clean it up. I guess I could see how that goes.

The only two things that helped were adjusting my expectations and getting dry wet vacuum with my second one 😂 My oldest went through the same phase and it was over on its own at some point.

My daughter was switched to eating at the dining table and if she doesn’t sit in a booster she normally doesn’t throw her food because she can’t see it as well. But when she is in a booster where she can see above the food she tends to throw more food. It’s not as bad as when she was in the highchair though

@Chrissy we switched too as she was just screaming in the high chair. But she definitely needs the booster. She's a shorty lol

think its a phase. working through it now
