Doesn’t want to poop in the potty

We’re on day 1 of potty training and we’ve had 2 prompted wees in the potty and 1 wee where we had to sit him on it mid-wee. I don’t expect him to get it straight away but when he did a poo, he didn’t want to sit on the potty and we had to hold the potty under him as he stood and pushed. He got a bit upset about it. Completely understand that it’s new for him and he normally does his poos standing up. We praised him since some went into the potty but also explained that he should sit down on the potty for poos as well as pees. Any tips to get him to not be scared of the potty for poos and he should sit down?

Sounds like it’s starting well! 👏We were told to put our LG on the toilet/potty shortly after a big meal. Sit there for around 15 min and make it “relaxing” so we read her stories and she doesn’t feel pressured into going. And praise whether something happened or not.

My daughter has been potty trained for about 2 months now and still won’t poo on the potty so I wouldn’t worry about it xx

Thanks @Rachel! Not sure he will sit still for that long 😆 but we’ll give it a go and hopefully it will normalise it!

@Amber ah really. Where does she poop just out of interest?

She asked me for a nappy so she still does it in a pull up but she’s completely potty trained doesn’t even wear a nappy at night but only for a poo I’ve tried making her use the potty and toilet but she refuses xx

Sounds like you’re going in the right direction @Amber as she’s aware of needing a poo and choosing to go in the nappy. I’m sure it’ll click soon enough for the poos 🤞🏽
