Weaning

Is it normal for first taste of food to be unsuccessful? Baby turns 6 months today so we've tried him on some Broccoli puree but he didn't seem very interested and didn't seem to like the taste! He even started crying! Do we just try another food tomorrow?

Yes, very normal. My son was the same and we tried him on broccoli first too. He had a few bites, then closed his mouth. The second time we tried he had one mouthful and then started crying. He’s now a very good eater with finger foods and purées and will happily sit and eat a whole broccoli floret. It’s a new experience for them, different tastes and textures from milk, they just need to get used to it. It didn’t take long for my son to adjust 🙂

It's all new to him he is used to sweet milk so all the new tastes will be something different. They will get used to it 🙂

Very normal!! Id also suggest sticking to unsweet veggies for the first few weeks, they will definitely look like they arent enjoying it but it gets them used to un sweet things!

Thanks so much everyone!!!

I’m 32 and I think I’d still turn my nose up to broccoli being shoved in my mouth 😂 I’d go for carrot as it’s sweeter but still healthy 😉 xx
