UK ONLY: how much do you think is reasonable to spend on an engagement ring?

Yes yes I know it depends on finances etc

I guess for me it was more than I could happily spend on myself. I have bought myself nice expensive jewellery before without batting an eyelid, so whilst i appreciate the gesture completely I would have been disappointed to get less than what I would easily get myself.

I think it fully depends on the couple , if you’re only making ends meet and can only afford a £100 ring then who cares ? But if you’re making enough the splurge and choose not too I’d be 👀👀

My fiancé chose to spend more than the example rings I’d already shown him, and he calls it an investment. But if you don’t have much of a spare budget for things then it doesn’t really matter? It’s entirely couple dependant x

My partner got me a cheap ring as a placeholder even though he definitely could’ve afford a higher price one. It was a placeholder for him as he wanted me to pick the one I wanted. I couldn’t be bothered with that and just thought I’d spend more on the wedding ring. So I don’t think it only depends on the finances. It also depends on what you want/like/value/priorities, etc.

I think more than 2k is just unnecessary. (Unless you have loads of money and £2k to them is £20) but more than 2k is just not needed. Spend in your budget I always think 🥰
