Finding my weaning groove...

I'm struggling! I'm not sure why, but this time around I'm really struggling to find a routine around meal times. My eldest is 13 and loves making her own food and snacks, so before baby came along we were all sort of fending for ourselves with no major routine. We ate what we had in the house, and when we were hungry- which sometimes could be 5pm, sometimes 8.30pm. We listened to our bodies. Now I have a little one again, I find I keep slipping out of any sort of loose routine I manage to get into. I worried she's not getting enough food, especially over Christmas when it's all been sausage rolls and chocolate so I've not had any standard mealtime foods on hand to give her. Apart from Christmas dinner veg, potatoes and meat, she's been snacking on odd bits here and there. I'm putting it down to the time of year, but I also struggle with variation which makes weaning feel like a bit of a slog. Sigh.

Ye I've been a bit out of routine over Christmas and also worried about LO but it's to be expected this time of year....I also have 2 older children 14 and 11 that also tend to fend for themselves most of the time ....my LO seems to have been very fussy/over stimulated over Christmas aswell so hasn't really bothered with anything I've put infront of him but it really isn't that important at this age as long as they still getting enough milk ....Christmas day and boxing day my little one just had nibbles of vegy sticks and a fair amount of munchy sticks 🙈

I’ll always do a porridge or weetabix in the morning as it’s easy and helps with any constipation from solids. Then his meal will either be what we eat or a puree if we end up having something that he can’t eat (frozen pizza etc). Lunch will either be a bottle or depending on his mood sometimes some picky bits like some poached apples, banana and some baby corn puffs. I’ll do the apple and it will last a couple of days in the fridge so don’t have to cook it every day. I’ll always try to feed his dinner 3 hours before his bedtime so he isn’t sick in the bed. (Normally around 4)

We're not relying on them but days where there is just no time or nothing prepared (often) we have been happy using Ellas kitchen or Sainsbury's own purees as no preservatives. Also use a lot of corn puffs and the odd bit of toast. It's too much to be preparing everything from scratch all the time. She discards most of it anyway! Also Weetabix and instant porridge are lifesavers!
