Every baby is different, I'd say keep encouraging the straw and sippu but give it time they tell you when they are ready my son stopped using bottles at 9mo he went straight to straws and now just reg open cups. But he rejected the bottle I spoke to the pediatrician he said to follow his cues and was OK with switching to whole milk. Just encourage and show excitement when he uses it.
I had that problem too. During the day, I switched to straw cups. For the night and morning bottles, I switched to Dr. Brown’s weighted straw bottles. And then, I just made the bottles go away to bottle heaven. I did this basically cold-turkey. If he knew I’d give a bottle to him anyways, he’d probably just hold out for it. Did he like it? No. He probably dropped down to 5-8 ounces a day for the first month and that was really only from the morning and night ones bc the Dr brown weighted straw bottles were similar to his formula bottles. It probably took about a month or so before he increased it to about 12-15 a day. The key for us I think was finding straw cups that were easy to suck. I literally tried 15 different ones and now, I have a good rotation of 3-4 that he is happy with.
My son bit a hole in his bottle and that was enough for me. I threw it away and said "all done bottle" he didn't want to drink a lot of his milk after that for a few days but eventually got over himself and was drinking with his sippy cup lol
In the same boat here. Tried everything till I just gave up.
Only offer milk in the cups he takes water in. If he refuses, just give other calcium rich foods in the meantime. He'll come around eventually.
