Is this weird - Potty training

When I was potty training my first id walk around with a potty under the pram and whenever they needed a wee I’d let them use the potty regardless of where we were. (Outside only, if inside we would find a toilet) then I’d tip it down a drain, wipe the potty out with a cleaning wipe and carry on with my day. But I don’t see many other people doing this. Is it weird? What did you do when your potty training little ones needed a wee?

I find it weird but something I’d totally do lol

We used a carry potty but still tend to carry a toilet seat around with us.

We had the carry potty, but I didn’t really like to carry it around with wee in, in case we needed to use it again while we were out (didn’t want to be opening it in a rush and get wee all over myself 😂). So I would tend to throw it out and wipe straight away as well. I don’t think it’s weird at all, what else are people doing? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ I have seen lots of parents out and about with potty’s under the buggy though, so maybe it depends where you’re from.

I never did that however I did carry a toilet seat in a bag. I used to plan the day so if we went out to the library I’d know they had a toilet there. I guess I toilet trained in the winter so the park wasn’t a huge issue.

Sounds smart to me! Definitely taking this idea when we start soon

I did this and had a carry potty. I've never really seen anyone else do it either

I just shared this with my mum and she recalled the time she was banned from going to a supermarket because she had such a bulky bag containing a potty! I don't know if they thought she'd brought the potty to distract security guards from potential shoplifting!!🤣

I have seen people everywhere carrying travel potties. For wees I got a urinal bottle, much more practical and discreet than the potty and I empty it as soon as possible.

I just keep the potty in the car and if she needs to go we'll run out to the parking lot. She's still scared of public bathrooms and she'd rather poop in a busy parking lot then a public bathroom

In China kids wear pants that have splits up the middle and the parents just put them over trash cans or where ever while walking outside to potty train them. I was surprised to see it but thought it was very interesting.

I didn’t do this but have seen lots of people with carry pottys. I’d still try to be discreet with it though. I’ve seen people use them in really public outdoor spaces and feel like it’s not very private for the child.

I did the same. Find a quiet spot and get the potty out, tip away, wipe and go. Didn’t buy a travel potty. But like you said Iv not seen anyone do it either. It’s as though kids are in nappies then are all completely trained 😂

I did this for the first week, but was a bit annoying as couldn’t always find a place. Then got a travel potty (potette plus) and then that lived under the potty.

I dont think its weird. I kept a potty in my trunk when training my daughter cause we would often go to parks with no toilets

It’s not weird at all. We didn’t do it as my son pointed out blank refused to sit on a potty so he went straight to toilet. If he needed a wee when we were outside it was a ‘wild wee’

We have a travel potty that you line with a compostable bag. She goes and then we toss it in a bin when we next see one. It’s been a life saver since our LO is terrified of public restrooms because of the hand dryers.

This is so weird and strange. Yet, I’ll be probably buying a portable potty soon?

We've used the carry potty in the middle of a supermarket before as there's no way my daughter would have held it to the otherside of the shop

We did take the my carry potty out a fair bit but where we live that is pretty common so doesn’t feel weird! Also took a resealable bag with antibac wipes, tissues, water wipes, nappy bags or wet bag (for accident clothes), and a few changes of clothes. My mum even managed to whip it out on the bus once for her 🤯 I’m glad that wasn’t me 🫣
