I had a similar experience, my bmi was at like 36 the day I gave birth, it was an emergency c section so I didn’t realise the injections were a thing, I am 5’11 and built like a brick wall, but the bmi says I am obese, the rude nurse that weighed me in hospital kept saying I was obese and would need to take two injections a day for at least 6 weeks she made me feel awful, then at discharge the doctor had said and the prescription was for a 10 day course, such a headache, I would talk to a midwife if you’re concerned about the dosage and the contradicting info because i almost always differing opinions from different midwives and nurses. The evidence for VTE prophylaxis in this setting is weak. I stopped mine after several days but I’m scoring a 1. I was up and about, no family history and normal BMI so I felt happy to stop on my own accord and I’m also of medical background- perhaps have a chat to the midwife about stopping early but ultimately nobody will tell you to in case something happens.
So I’m going to answer this from a slightly different angle based on my experience - I had a course of 10 day injections after my birth. 3 days after they finished my leg started to hurt and 4 days after that a whopping great clot was discovered at the top of my leg. By that point my leg was so painful I could barely move. I’m now on a course of 3 months of injections at a higher dose, twice a day, with the possibility of extending another 3 months after depending on how my body has reacted. It’s also taken nearly 3 weeks for my leg to stop hurting enough to be able to go for short walks (yesterday was my first day leaving the house - woohoo!). As annoying as the injections are, knowing what I know now, I’d have preferred the 6 week course x
