birth control

What’s the best birth control for postpartum? I want to avoid hormonal options, but I’m not sure about using an IUD since I don’t want to stress about being careful during sex. I’m 2 weeks postpartum and need to decide soon.

Have you looked in to nexplanon a bar implanted in ur arm last for three yrs

@Jacey that’s a 8 months wait

I had an iud for about a year(~6 years ago, had other issues with it and needed to remove it) never had to be careful during sex, was never even advised to be careful during sex.

@Zendaya who told you it’s an eight month wait? Or is that have to do with your insurance coverage?

Why would you have to be careful during sex if you had and iud? I've had one for 5 years (well 2 then a break to have my baby and now have a third) and never been careful

@Jacii i don’t know it depends on your area but in my area I rang them up and they said it’s a 6-8 month wait

Mirena has been the best for me so far. I had it for 7 years before having it removed to try to get pregnant and had no complications. I tried the paraguard after my last baby and I bled for 38 days.

I’ve been using a diaphragm for the past 10 years as I also wasn’t keen on hormonal contraception, researched IUD but so many women had complaints about it. Never got pregnant until I stopped using it - highly recommend

Maybe a dumb question, but would you stress about being careful with an iud? I've been working in a contraception clinic for a year and no one's ever said anything about this? I also have one myself & can honestly say, I've never been "careful"

@Zendaya is it a 6 to 8 month wait like because you just had your baby or like insurance purposes because I lived in South Dakota when I had my child and they put it in before I left the hospital. Even down where I live now they’ll do it if you ask for it. It’s strange that they say 6 to 8 months because I mean some people wind up getting pregnant during that time which is why they want the birth control in the first place lol

@Jacii I know right it’s so annoying and no it’s a 6-8 month wait because I want to get it done too I rang up

@Zendaya it’s ridiculous! Have you called other places to see if they say anything different?

@Jacii no I haven’t as the rest are far from me but I think your town might be different so don’t hesitate to ring up and check

My boyfriend is fixed, so I don’t even have a need to be on birth control but let me tell you something once I stopped the birth control completely with a matter of days notice a change and the way I felt how much more energy I had I was even less depressed, and my libido went up… I’m not sure, but I don’t think I’ll ever be on birth control again at this point because I like the way I feel now versus knowing how I felt when I was on the birth control and being able to see the difference
