I worked full time before maternity leave but I couldn't face a full week only seeing my little boy for an hour or 2 after work so I made the decision to only go back 4 out of 5 days dropping Wednesdays. I still do 32 hours a week but have a day free each week to take him out. Can you review the number of days?
I also went back part-time from the end of October due to annual leave too. And like Louise, I've also dropped a Wednesday, so I get to spend the day with my LB. I start back properly tomorrow, I can't say I'm looking forward to going back properly but I know once I get there, it'll be nice to adult again. I'm trying not to think of the guilt but more, like Yasmin, the money we'll have to take our LB out and the quality time I will have when I'm home with my LB x
@Louise I will have every other Monday off as I am working condensed hours so I will do a 9 day fortnight which isn't so bad I guess! Not sure I could afford to drop a day at the moment but I'll see how it goes 🙂 x
My first child (now on my 2nd) totally thrived at nursery and she loves it there. I even kept her in when I was on maternity as I felt the guilt of taking it away from her. Your baby won't remember you weren't there for a few more hours a day than you wanted to. Single income households are totally not a thing anymore (unfortunately), we have to work 😔 but know your baby is socialising, learning, being cared for and constantly entertained whilst your working. It's a hard transition but it's best for your baby and family.
@Hanan Thank you! Our baby loves nursery too, she sometimes doesn't even reach out to me to come home 😂 you're right she probably doesn't notice, they are so busy being entertained and having fun!
Yeah I’ve been full time since I went back end of October. I work shifts so some days I don’t see him at all other than through the night when he wakes. It’s tough but I just make the most of being present when I’m with LO and think about how the extra money provides security for his future and gives us spending money for days out/ holidays/ to buy treats etc x
