Universal credit

Hey! I am on maternity allowance as I couldn't get maternity pay through my work as I had not long started but I have applied for universal credit but been told I can't get it as I'm receiving maternity allowance which is about £730 a month which I'm really struggling on as my wages are usually around £1100 is there any advice of anything I can recieve until I go back to work to help pay bills? I also can't get scottish child payment as I'm not on any benefits. Any advice would be great.

You will be entitled to child element on uc once your baby is born apply for child benefits and Scottish child benefits in the mean time which will be roughly about £100 each.

@Daniella my baby is 5 months old and been told I'm not entitled

That’s really strange if you’re only getting ma and it’s your only income then you should be entitled to at least child benefit … I would ask your health visitor if you’ve not already . Either that or you could come off maternity allowance and just apply for universal credit but I’d call money advice first x
