These are amazing and cheap! And the gel packs can be cleaned kept and used later on i still use them for injuries , periods etc
The instant cooling pads by Frida mom were great! My midwife also prescribed a lidocaine gel that helped, too! The first week was rough but every day it gets a little better. For me, the ends of the stitches kept digging in and those hurt like a mf, but they gradually softened before dissolving. You got this!
Things that helped me: Keep it nice and clean, shower or pour warm water over the area after going to the toilet Let the stitches air out after showering Dab don't wipe with toilet roll Get an O shaped cushion if you can't sit comfortably Don't do too far too fast with exercise / walking Keep on top of basic pain meds, I kept them up regularly for a couple of weeks For me week 2 was worse than week 1, it was more difficult than I expected. By week 3 it had settled a lot more. Hang in there and take care of yourself!
the pain defo got worse before it got better, it’ll take some time. keep on top of pain meds. for tears/episiotomies, use stool softeners (the anxiety is real for the first few poops 🤣)
Yeah I had this, felt okay leaving hospital (also 2nd degree) then the pain hit I couldn’t stand or get comfy Regular pain killers, try get a spray / witch hazel / aloe Vera to soothe down there (I used spritz for bits) Once you can have baths use Epsom salts and nothing else Keep it as clean as you can and try ice packs too! It’s tough, PP for me was a shock I didn’t expect it, but it does pass just takes a couple of weeks - health visitors will also check your stitches when they come to make sure they’re healing okay! xx
