Retained placenta

I’m due to give birth any day now however have severe anxiety about it all as my last pregnancy 2 yrs ago I had a retained placenta. The whole experience was traumatising and I’m soo scared of this happening again, has anyone had a retained placenta and then the next pregnancy everything was fine? I’m really praying for a smooth birth this time around 😫

Hey, I gave birth this year and I also had a retained placenta. Which I understand its definitely not fun. I've only had 1 Child so can't say if it happens again. However, I would have thought every birth is different so just cause it happened once doesn't mean it will definitely happen again. Fingers crossed for a smooth birth 🥰

They have said your chances are a lot higher if it’s happened before but praying not again 😫 it was definitely horrible! Thanks so much 🥰

I had to have surgery directly after birth due to a retained placenta with my first bub. Second pregnancy no issues at all

Oh sorry I didn't know it increases your chances. Thanks for letting me know. I pray it doesn't happen again. Not that it makes it any better cause again I know it's a traumatising experience. But you got this if it does or doesn't happen. Wish you a healthy and as stress free as possible birth

Oh wow really? So it happened in your first and not your second birth? Yes it’s very traumatising! Praying it doesn’t happen again but putting trust in our medical team in case it does 🙌🏼

I'm currently pregnant with my second, so I have no advice on this, but I want you to know you're not alone. My first was born just under 12 months ago and my placenta was manually removed after 2 hours of waiting and trying to get it to come out naturally, I just had the gas and air and it was far more painful and traumatic than my birth. I'm absolutely terrified of it happening again to the point that I'm having nightmares about it. You are definitely not alone! After something so traumatic, I think it's completely normal to be having anxiety about it. I'm planning on talking to my midwife about it and hopefully being more prepared just in case so I'm not as shocked if it does happen again
