Recently diagnosed PCOS

Hi all, I’ve recently diagnosed with PCOS. I’ve also been ttc for over a year now. I’ve conceived in April 24 which was unfortunately miscarried. The gp told me I have to make a choice whether start medication to regulate period or keep trying to get pregnant naturally. Can I please get some help here

Do you ovulate naturally? Theres a lot of things to take into consideration before giving a solid answer, i gather that your previous pregnancy was unmedicated?

I was put on Metformin by the GP to regulate my periods. It started to work after a month. I was on the medication for 5/6 months and then I stopped (side effects are horrendous- just a heads up) and then within two months I found out I was 9 weeks gone x

@J yes I conceived naturally twice

@Laura (Lor) what were the side effects

@Laura (Lor) thank you..much appreciated!!

If you’re struggling to catch ovulation id highly recommend purchasing an ovusense, i have long irregular cycles so found that i ovulate later in my cycle bit pricey but so worth it i got a 12 month subscription and conceived on the 2nd cycle Have had metformin in the past and it didn’t work for me, its good to know you ovulate naturally so there shouldn’t be any need for medication yet i wouldn’t say

What medication are they offering? And have you tried anything so far?xx

@J I’ll look into that thank you

@Kacie just found out today.. I have appointment next week let’s see what they prescribe

Ahh okay! I needed a little help, my issues was not ovulating which was delaying cycle so ended uo going on letrozole which made my 45-55 cycles, exactly 30 days every time xx fell 3 cycles later! Best of luck! Message if u need any advice as I tried multiple things before hand x

I also have PCOS, there is many different drivers of PCOS and you need to figure out which one you have. I decided to naturally try to balance my hormones and cortisol levels, finally fell pregnant after 4 years! She was worth the wait ♥️

I have insulin resistant PCOS. I was put on Metformin and had terrible GI side effects so my Dr. Switched me to the Metformin ER. No side effects for me after the switch.

@Danielle what were the side effects?

You should at this point be referred to fertility specialists for additional tests if you’ve been trying this long. I have pcos, had 2 pregnancies (one of them was a chemical) and one successful (and I now have a nearly 10 month old 🤯). Pcos is hard, if I were you I’d go back to the gp and push for further testing - they probs won’t do it but still. Like others say diet is a big factor, but I was prescribed metformin years ago and the cycle I managed to get pregnant and not miscarry was the cycle I’d taken metformin and was also taking pregnacare conception max (which has inositol and other micronutrients which help regulate hormones).

I also have PCOS. Do you know the reason you miscarried? With my pregnancies I have to immediately go on a progesterone supplement because my body doesn’t produce enough on its own to sustain a pregnancy. Might be worth mentioning to your doctor. I had a miscarriage between my first and second babies because my progesterone was too low.

diarrhea and bad abdominal pain were my side effects of the regular Metformin. Fried foods and steak definitely were triggers to the issues. But even eating something else not fried it would run right through me, I was miserable 😫
