I would love one, though it’s a bit out of budget for me. A doula is 💯 there for, and focused on, you. That support can’t be underestimated. From what I’ve heard it’s best to meet with a few and see who you connect with, they’ll be with you at your most vulnerable so it’s important you have someone you trust. Honestly if it was within budget I wouldn’t hesitate!
I thought about it and for a long time I really wanted one but I can’t justify the £1600 price tag I was seeing. I think most speak to you a couple of times before the birth and are then on call the weeks leading to your pregnancy and then they stay with you until you’ve given birth and visit you once following the birth. That’s a lot of money and I thought I would rather spend money hiring help once my baby is here should I struggle with feeding/sleep etc as those consultants fees are £25 p/hr
If it’s within your budget and your gut trusts them and you’re on the same page I say why not! Would be lovely to have an advocate so other half (if there is one) can just focus on emotional support
