I’m 37, enrolled on AAT L2 in September, one evening a week x

Hey! Qualified accountant here of over 13 years. Best route to do is to try get a training apprenticeship with a firm so you can train and work at the same time, that’s what I did and it’s not just for school leavers anymore. x

@Vanessa I'm in full time work already not really in a position to leave my full time pay to go to apprenticeship pay that's the only thing was just looking into maybe doing a home course so I could do it in the evenings when kids have gone to bed would that just be a long process way of doing it? X

@Emma my firm and I think lost don’t pay apprenticeship pay, they’re like training contracts instead of apprenticeships. You could definitely do it at home, first intuition and Kaplan are very good training providers. It will be harder from home because you’re not getting the practice experience but definitely definitely doable! X

I did AAT and then progressed on to CIMA. I did 1st year of AAT as an apprenticeship and then left that job to get a better paid role and they agreed to pay my training but I had to do evening classes at the local college. Then once I finished AAT I left that job and got a new role that paid for me to complete my CIMA studies and did weekend courses through First Intuition. Good luck 🙂

Thank you all for your advice and help I have decided to enroll in AAT level 2 & 3 courses at home through open study college and going to do them in the evening or when I have spare time around my job and kids and see where I go with it may take me few years but I've only just got back into a routine with going back to work and childcare from being on mat leave with my 2nd child so don't want to upset that at the minute by looking for new job etc that may not be flexible enough with my childcare arrangements. X

@Emma sounds a good plan. I done all that when I was like 19/20 so able to skip around jobs x
